I was asked to do a surprise birthday cake for a 10 year old girl. The team of the party was barbie but I didn't want to do

the popular barbie doll cakeso.  I searched for inspiration on the internet and found a beautiful makeup bag for kids and knew immediately that it was a winner .

Catching up!

Wow it has been a really, long time since I updated!  Shame on me! It's tough keeping up with all these social sites, I must admit :).  So much has happened in this past half year.  I have grown in skill and continue to grow and have met many wonderful people who have lifted me higher.  I will just share a few of the cakes I have done to break the silence and make an effort to write more frequently.

Winter in Ghana!

A bride approached with a design of a winter wedding cake and I thought well why not?  Granted we do not have winter in Ghana but this is a beautiful cake so let's do it :)! Here is the outcome :)

Gold and white wedding cake

Wow! It's been too long since I posted here :(.  I have been putting together material though but has been very, very busy.

I made this cake this weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome - beautiful! The bride initially wanted pearls but we had a few a challenges so settled for gold which was part of her colour scheme.  I was initially skeptical and thought it would look gaudy but I was soo wrong!  I love this cake and hope you do too.

Chandelier wedding cake

In the evening of 9 March 2014 I received a call from a potential client wanting a wedding cake.  It was past 5pm and I had company so was debating whether to go meet up with this client immediately (my cake shop is not too far from my house) or fix an appointment for a later date.  Curiosity got the better part of me so I decided to meet with her that evening.  This meeting proved to be a turning point in my cake career :)!.  The request was for a 5 tiers upside down chandelier cake!!! My excitement knew no bounds, this was a first here in Ghana and also for me! :).  That evening and the next few nights I could hardly sleep from anticipation of the wedding date and it remained so for some days till gradually it all settled in. I designed the cake stand and internal structure and supervised it's construction and come 26 July 2014, all our dreams came to fruition and everybody involved was satisfied.  The cake was a HUGE hit as intended and the bridal party was full of praise for my work.  Am greatly humbled and thankful to God Almighty for this breakthrough.

A million dots wedding cake

Oh my, I wish I knew what I had let myself into when I accepted to do this design for a client! Anyway, the cake turned out beautiful and tasty and everybody had good things to say about it so my client is happy, am happy, everybody is happy!  That is why I make cakes :)!

High top shoe cake

I have always wanted to do a sneakers cake and so was planning to do one for my son when this order came in.  My excitement at doing this was almost dampened by the problems I was having with the fondant but in the end it all worked out good.  A few lessons learned to be carried forward to the next project :)!

Milo birthday cake

Milo happens to be a favourite chocolate drink for many in my part of the world (myself included).  I however never in my wildest thought imagined it as a cake!  I was approached by this young lady who wanted a birthday cake for her sister who had a great love for milo and shoes.  I have so wanted to do a shoe cake forever so my first thought was yes! But she wanted the cake done in a couple of days and that meant not enough time for a beautiful shoe cake :(.  I therefore decided to do a milo tin cake since I don't recall seeing any.  It came out beautiful and she was very happy with it :).

Pink and white wedding cake

I had the privilege of making a wedding cake for a secondary school mate recently!  This project was special to me because she is such a wonderful lady who has seen some challenges in her life but was able to set all that aside and help others.  She always has a smile and is willing to offer support.  She so deserves to be happy and me being part of it was a blessing.

Birthday month

I always look forward to the month of March since its my birthday month.  As always I will plan several weeks ahead the type of cakes I would make for myself and never make them :).  I always find myself booked down with orders and end up not making the cake of my dreams.  Last year I was too tired to even bother and prayed that someone will surprise me with a cake.  As it turned out no one did so there was no cake on my birthday!!!  This year I promised myself that no matter what the circumstance I will cut a cake on my birthday.  It so happened that I had cake orders to deliver but I still made me a cake which had two things I liked; Bethy Boop and hexagon.

I took the cake to my work place to share with colleagues and they loved it.  I even got a request to repeat the design for another's birthday.

The Linda Cake

When I had this consultation with the bride to be on her wedding cake she indicated that her colours were turquoise and apple green then I wondered, will this be a nice blend?  I therefore decided to make all decorations turquoise and have very little apple green on the cake.  It turned out that the colours worked very well together and am happy with the results.

Bling wedding cake

First wedding cake of the new year :)! This picture was taken after the cake was cut.  I was almost tempted to set it up without the flowers but in the end it just needed that extra touch so I added the flowers :).

2013 was a very active year for me and I thank you all for your support.  It was also the year in which I did the most wedding cakes since I started this cake journey.  I look forward to an even better year this 2014 and expect nicer creations from me :).  Here are a couple of the wedding cakes I closed 2013 with.

Paisley wedding cake

This season has seen an increasing demand for low budget wedding cakes. Brides are moving away from big and expensive wedding cakes to cut costs.  Here is one I delivered recently which was well received by the bride and her family.  Just know that there is always a wedding cake which will suit your budget.  Merry Christmas everyone!

Cinderella

This cake makes me smile each time I look at the picture.  I loved working on it though it took longer than I intended.  The picture was hand painted with edible colours.

Football fans

So, its been quite some time now :)!

Well I did two football themed cakes over the weekend and thought I would share with you all.  These two teams are neither here nor there for me so far as football is concerned :) but I loved both cakes.  I am not crazy about football but would watch if I have to.  Which team do you support?

Perfume cake

When you are requested to make a novelty cake, you are either apprehensive or excited or both.  In this instance I was excited and as I started working on it, then I became apprehensive, then excited again when it was all done :). This cake looks simple but took a lot of effort and also tasked me to dig further into my inner being :) for solutions.  It made all concerned very happy.

Errm, what do I call this cake? Ok, 70th Birthday Cake :)

Made this cake within a very limited time frame but am happy it came out well and everyone loved it. It was for a 70th birthday celebration for a lovely woman.
